The 20’’ Rumuekpe-Nkpolu Trans Niger Pipeline was tampered with by unknown persons. There was evidence (de coated portion) of the pipeline and a drilled hole of about 10mm on the pipeline. The spill occurred within and outside the pipeline ROW. Due to the long residence time of the spill on the environment, most of the crude have either infiltrated into the soil (sandy clay) while some evaporated or volatilized into the atmosphere.
