The JIT noticed that the soil was previously disturbed, sign of loose soil with visible pockets of crude oil. Upon excavation of the incident point, the 12" pipeline was dented (bent) with a tear due to the blast on the pipeline. A containment pit was dug at the incident point which was along the Right of Way (RoW). The length of the tear was 34cm long and was from 11-4 O' Clock position as at time of JIV. The length of the bend was 90cm long. the team noticed the tear of the spill point was pegged as at the time of JIV. Repairs were not effected immediately after the JIV.
