Oil Spill at 10’’ Oshie-Ogoda pipeline at Akala-olu, AWELGA, Rivers State.

• On the initial assessment of the alleged spill point it was observed that the soil around this area was disturbed and a pool of oil in a ditch suspected as the spill point seen (see figure 1). • Upon mechanical excavation of the point a 125mm long hacksaw cut was inflicted on the pipeline at 9 to 11 O’clock position by unknown person(s) and confirmed as a leaking point (see figure 2). This is attributed to oil theft activity. • There was impact within NAOC’s ROW and surrounding vegetation (see figure 1
