• On the initial assessment of the alleged spill point it was observed that the soil around this area was disturbed and patches of oil on water seen. Boom was also deployed around the spill point. This proved that an unusual activity may have taken place so it was important that the point should be exposed for further probe (see figure 1). • Upon excavation of the point a 1ʺ ball valve was installed on the pipeline illegally at 12 O’clock position by unknown person(s) and confirmed as a leaking point (see figure 2).
