The Team assessed the spill area; found the spill point was on fire (see figure 1), this was quenched by SPDC’s Firemen before JIV could commence. Upon mechanical exposure of the line, the team observed: • There was an installation of a failed 2’’ Ball valve at 12 O’clock position. It was confirmed a Leaking point (see figure 2). • The Impacted Area covered SPDC’s ROW and Third Party Area (Withered Vegetation, Carbonized surface around the spill area resulting from fire and pool of crude oil in a dyke within the vicinity of the Spill Area) see figure 3.
