Incident 3016055 · SPDC · 26 Aug 2021
The spill was as a result of third party interferance. After excavation, the cause of spill was a locally fabricated 2" ball valve connected at 12 O'clock position on the IMO RIVER 2-Ogale pipeline. This valve was connected to a pipe that was ingeniously installed beneath the road leading to an unknown destination. It is noteworthy that the entire strectch of road seems to be a hub of illegal mining activities as disused and abandoned materials were littered all around the area. A burrow pit inundated with crude was also observed a walking distance from the inspection point.( Please see evidence in still photographs uploaded.)
